Turn a supplier price list into a WooCommerce import file
Who it is for and what you need
- Your supplier sends a price list in their own columns (any of 12 header languages), and you import new products with the built-in WooCommerce importer.
- A CSV (UTF-8, comma or semicolon) or an Excel workbook (
.xlsx,.xlsm), up to 50,000 records and 50 MB. - For variable products: a column that says which rows belong together (for example a model number), so parents can be built by that key.
- To update prices and stock of products that are already in your store, use Update catalog instead.
A real example: a German supplier price list
This is the synthetic demo file of the checker (12 fictional products, semicolons as German Excel saves them). It has two price columns: Preis is the retail price, EK-Preis the purchase price.
| Artikelnummer | Bezeichnung | Preis | EK-Preis | Bestand | Kategorie |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DK-MUG-01 | Keramikbecher Nordlicht | 14.90 | 6.20 | 25 | Küche |
| DK-MUG-02 | Keramikbecher Fjord | 14.90 | 6.20 | 18 | Küche |
| DK-PLT-01 | Frühstücksteller Ahorn | 9.50 | 3.80 | 40 | Küche |
“Suggest rules from headers” gives these rules; you review each one before the check:
| Supplier column | WooCommerce field |
|---|---|
| Artikelnummer | SKU |
| Bezeichnung | Name |
| Preis | Regular price |
| Bestand | Stock |
| Kategorie | Categories |
| (constant) simple | Type |
EK-Preis is not suggested for any field: headers that name a purchase, wholesale or cost price are kept out of Regular price. Type = simple is a rule the demo adds, because a supplier list has no Type column.
| SKU | Name | Regular price | Stock | Categories | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DK-MUG-01 | Keramikbecher Nordlicht | 14.90 | 25 | Küche | simple |
| DK-MUG-02 | Keramikbecher Fjord | 14.90 | 18 | Küche | simple |
| DK-PLT-01 | Frühstücksteller Ahorn | 9.50 | 40 | Küche | simple |
The check of the prepared file: 12 records, 6 mapping rules, 0 problems remaining. The result has fewer than 50 records, so the whole file is a free download.
Prepare a supplier file
Open the checker in “Prepare supplier file” and choose your price list, or load the demo price list above.

What the mapping does
- Header languages: typical supplier headers in 12 languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Portuguese, Turkish, Chinese, Ukrainian, Russian) are recognized. Only the header names are read; the interface is in English.
- Cleanup rules: trim spaces, normalize numbers (
1 299,50becomes1299.50), join or split cells, map values, set constants. - Reusable supplier profiles: save the mapping, cleanup rules and grouping in this browser, or export them as JSON. When the supplier changes the headers, the changes are shown and you confirm the mapping again.
- Parents and variations: when each row is one variation, choose a group key and a parent SKU rule; parents are built by that key, never because names look alike. Generated parents count toward the record limit. More on variations: variations not linking.
- Excel pictures: pictures placed over cells come as a ZIP with
manifest.csv; you upload them to your store yourself. See Excel embedded images.
Fixed automatically
- Suggestions from the headers and the cleanup rules you choose; nothing is applied without your review.
Reported for you to decide
- Columns that are mapped twice, values a rule could not convert, groups that cannot be built, and every problem of the prepared CSV.
Needs data from your store
- SKUs and global attributes already in your store. A store export or SKU list can be supplied to find SKU conflicts; global attribute settings are compared only by the free WordPress plugin.
Limits
- A column whose header does not say what it holds cannot be recognized: map it yourself.
- Values are not translated, and product texts are not written for you.
- The output is for the built-in importer (Products → Import), not WP All Import or other importers.
- A passing check is not a test import: try a few products on a staging copy of your store first. Details: Prepare in the documentation.
What is free
The check, the report and a sample of up to 50 records (whole product groups) are free. A prepared result of at most 50 records is free in full. A larger prepared result is one of the 3 results of a CatalogDock Pass ($19, one-time, 30 days). See Pricing. Example files to practice with: CSV templates.
